Dr. Amelia Fong is a general ophthalmologist and cataract specialist as well as fellowship-trained oculoplastic specialist. She was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii where her family has lived for three generations.
She graduated from Punahou High School with honors, and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She then returned home to attend medical school at the University of Hawaii John A Burns School of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology training at the prestigious Georgetown/Medstar Washington Hospital Center. She then finished a highly competitive Oculoplastics fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. Dr. Fong served as an associate professor at the University of Texas Southwestern giving multiple lectures and training residents in ophthalmic surgery. She has also contributed to the ophthalmic literature publishing original articles, scientific posters, and presenting at professional meetings. As a fellowship-trained oculoplastic surgeon, she specializes in eyelid and orbital disorders having done over 500 surgeries in the area. She is also trained in cosmetic procedures such as blepharoplasty, botox, and facial fillers. Dr. Fong is an accomplished adult cataract surgeon and has expertise in the treatment of other ocular disorders such as glaucoma, dry eye disease, uveitis, and diabetic eye disease. She also performs routine eye exams. |
