Dr. Janet Tham is an Optometrist with 20+ years of experience. She provides general eye services, cataract and LASIK management, and treatment of eye diseases such as glaucoma and "pink eye."
She graduated with a major in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York, College of Optometry. At graduation, Dr. Tham was honored with the Ira Goldfarb Memorial Award for Excellence in Low Vision. She completed externships at the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System, in Montrose NY, where she concentrated on the management of ocular diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts. She then spent the first few years of her career in Southern California, and more recently practiced over 10 years in Baltimore, Maryland. With a special interest in international health care, Dr. Tham volunteered on a medical mission to El Salvador with a team of health care providers in 2005. She brought eye care to patients who never had an eye exam or vision screening before. This was one of her most gratifying experiences and a reminder of why she became an optometrist. Dr. Tham currently lives in Manoa Valley with her husband and two sons. She enjoys photography, stand up paddle boarding, and hiking in her free time. Recently, she hiked the Kalalau Trail in Kaua’i, and looks forward to hiking to the top of Half Dome at Yosemite National Park. Dr. Tham is privileged and honored to serve our community every day through excellent eye care. |
